The Travancore Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. (TSCL), a Kerala Government Company incorporated in 1937 with Registered Office and Factory at Valanjavattom about 7 Kms from Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala commenced commercial production on 12.11.1948. The Company which had three divisions viz Sugar division, Distillery division and Blending & Bottling division was originally owned by M/s Parry & Co. Government of Kerala (GOK) took over the company in 1974. Due to non-availability of the raw material i.e. sugarcane, the sugar division was closed in the year 1998. The distillery division was manufacturing and supplying arrack to Abkari Contractors and until 1992, the company was enjoying a more or less monopoly status in this activity. The competition arising due to liberalization of arrack purchase after 1992 and the subsequent ban by GOK on production and consumption of arrack Distillery division was also closed. The Company is at present engaged in the manufacture of Indian Made Foreign Liquor(IMFL) only and the products are sold through Kerala State Beverages Corporation Ltd. KSBC a Company wholly owned by Government of Kerala, which is a monopoly procurement Agency of IMFL. The major departments are Production department, Finance, Accounts Department, Secretarial, Personnel & Administration Department, and Purchase & Stores Department etc. Our product “Jawan XXX Rum” is a very popular brand in Kerala with superior quality and competitive price.
